Despite the transfer of these staff, the game was still not predicted to be complete in time. To speed up production, Sega sent veteran staff from Japan to assist, including regular Sonic the Hedgehog artist Katsuhiko Sato. Morawiec considered this a "tight" schedule for a game that would capitalize on the series' popularity in North America. >The game would have to be completed in under a year to be ready in time for the 1993 holiday season. >C and assembly are pretty much the same thingĬ is a high-level language while Assembly is low-level.Ĭ is why Sonic Spinball had to run at 30fps. And how about how he also had those same gibberish songs recorded a second time in actual english as some unlockable? Yep, totally essential and not at all a waste of time and resources. You know, the ones that are out of fucking nowhere and are in gibberish and give no further context to anything? He found those to be essential to the game too. Oh, and let's not forget about the time and resources he wasted to have those lengthy musical dance segments after every level included. He designed a fucking PLATFORMER with no JUMP BUTTON because he apparently thought having more that one button that did something was too complicated to be accessible to all ages. He wanted it to be a simple game with one action button that "all audiences could enjoy". That's a poor design decision that could have been changed and coded in minutes, but no. That's hardly something you can blame SE "rushing the game out" for. That one single simple and obvious design choice could have easily taken it from being absolute trash to at least being mediocre. The game didn't even have a dedicated jump button, meaning some costumes just literally could not jump.
